    India, Jan. 31, 1986, Nov. 1999: The pontiff visited India in 1986 for ten days where he spent time with Mother Teresa. The pope went to India again in 1999 for the Conclusion of the Special Assembly for Asia of the Synod of Bishops.

    Sri Lanka, Jan. 1995: The Pope visited Sri Lanka as part of a 10-day trip that included the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Australia

    Bangladesh, Nov. 1986: The pope visited Bangladesh during a 13-day trip that included: Singapore, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and Seychelles

    Thailand, May 1984: The Pope spent 10 days touring Asia and Oceania, making his last stop in Thailand.
